A RETURN TO PAPER
Missmsmith - Paper art, is an artistic project that makes artworks using both origami and paper-cutting techniques. Feeling, enjoyment and disconnection are three core concepts that envelope each creation. With muralism as the main artistic expression, Missmsmith - Paper art explores a variety of paper-based disciplines such as decoration, tessellation patterns or scenography, among others.

The origin of Missmsmith
The studio began in 2013 from an idea by Marta Herrero Arias as a way of stepping away from the ever-present digital world and returning to raw materials and manual processes. In less than a month, after the experience of working with major creative brands such as Loewe, Disney, NBCUniversal or Marie Claire, Marta set the foundations of Missmsmith - Paper art connecting paper to settings of all kind such as branding activations, corporate events or weddings.
Although the project began as a form of personal expression, in 2020 it had grown into an ongoing collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of artists and professional creators - who craft pieces that now travel the globe.

Crafts
With all-around experience in artistic direction branching out in design, prototyping, production and distribution, all the works of Missmsmith - Paper art are wholly handmade or at least more than 50% of the process involves manual crafting, complemented with the use of mechanical or laser cutting tools.
Each creation is completely customizable with a wide range of papers in both colors and textures, weights and patterns. Some of the designs can even be obtained on papyrus, washi or recycled textile or vegetable papers.

Where does the name come from?
Missmsmith is deeply tied to Marta as it began as a solo passion project and needed a name to sign each piece.
Rooted entirely in paper and as if it were a handwritten letter, the name came to life: Miss – M (for Marta) – Smith (the English version of her last name, Herrero) one word to shape each creation: Missmsmith.
The tag Paper Art was added a year later, to highlight the star material in each design.
