Paper carnations for San Isidro in Madrid
Throughout May we were busy making paper carnations for the San Isidro festivities in Madrid, reinterpreting one of the most representative flowers of Madrid tradition through paper art.
The floral installation was developed at different scales, from pieces with half-metre stems to large paper carnations more than a metre and a half tall, creating a sculptural composition full of volume, colour and movement.
Each carnation was handmade, combining paper with internal structures designed to give each piece shape, stability and presence, always with bases that allowed the installation to blend into the space.
This paper carnation art intervention for San Isidro turned Madrid’s floral tradition into a contemporary visual experience, where art, scale and colour came together in an ephemeral installation made entirely of paper.
This project joins our body of work in giant paper flowers, a type of installation we have developed in many projects that lets us keep exploring the scale, volume and expressiveness of paper in large-format floral interventions.
