How Did Missmsmith Come about?
Creative direction and specialized productions in paper and paint: origami, muralism, event decoration, actions for brands, paper flowers and much more

Missmsmith – Paper Art, is an artistic project that creates works using both origami and paper cutting techniques. Feeling, enjoying and disconnecting are three key concepts that surround each creation. With muralism as the main art, Missmsmith – Paper Art develops its creations in various paper disciplines such as decoration, the creation of tessellations or set design, among others.
The Origins of Missmsmith
The workshop was born in 2013 from an idea of Marta Herrero Arias as a way to disconnect from the omnipresent digital environment that surrounds us in order to cling to raw materials and be able to have a reunion with manual processes. After the experience of working in large creative brands such as Loewe, Disney, NBCUniversal or Marie Claire, in less than a month, Marta establishes the foundations of Missmsmith – Paper Art with ideas to unite paper to all kinds of situations such as brand advertising actions, corporate events or weddings.
Although the project was started as a means of personal expression, in 2020 it has grown to work in continuous collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of professional artists and creators with whom projects are developed that, today, travel all over the world.
Craftsmanship
With a 360º artistic direction experience that includes design, prototyping, production and distribution, all the works of Missmsmith – Paper Art are made with the charm of handmade work, either in its entirety or in more than 50% of the process in which cases, it works with mechanical or laser blade cutting tools.
Each creation is completely customizable with a wide range of papers in both colors and textures, weights and patterns. Some of the designs can even be obtained in papyrus, washi or recycled paper from textiles or vegetables.

Where does the name come from?
Missmsmith is totally linked to Marta since it is a project that at the beginning she created exclusively as a solo hobby and needed a name to sign.
100% linked to paper and as if it were correspondence, Miss – M (for Marta) – Smith (Herrero which is her last name in English) becomes a word to give shape to each creation: Missmsmith.
The addition of art on paper, arises a year later to identify the projects with the star material of each design.
